How to Proceed After Discovering a Fraudulent ACH Transaction

Discovering a fraudulent ACH (Automated Clearing House) transaction can be a stressful experience. Taking swift action is crucial to increasing the chances of recovering the funds.

Step 1: Inform Centime Immediately

If you identify a fraudulent ACH transaction, notify Centime as soon as possible. Centime will then coordinate with FNBO to take the necessary actions to address the issue.

Step 2: FNBO Files a Return Request on Your Behalf

Centime will work with FNBO to file the return request on behalf of clients to initiate the recovery process efficiently.

Step 3: Potential Outcomes

FNBO will await a response from the fraudster’s bank. The resolution will depend on the cooperation of the involved financial institutions.

  • If the request is successful:

    • FNBO will recover the funds from the fraudster’s bank.

    • The recovered funds will be sent to the affected party’s bank, reimbursing them for the fraudulent transaction.

  • If the request is unsuccessful:

    • Unfortunately, the funds will not be recovered.

How We Can Assist

As the originating bank in this situation, FNBO provides support and guidance throughout the process. While the outcome depends on various banking regulations and institutional cooperation, Centime and FNBO remain committed to assisting clients in fraud recovery efforts.

If you experience a fraudulent ACH transaction, report it to Centime immediately. This enables Centime to coordinate with FNBO and your financial institutions to maximize the chances of a successful resolution.
